m:IQ – backup your phone (review)
Just put this application to the test.
First up for those who do not know about this application let me put the features of the application.
Features:
• Full contact sync between your phone & the Web
• Read, reply, and create new text messages from your computer – threaded by conversation
• Add, edit and delete calendar events from the web
• Instantly upload photos
& videos to the Web where you can view, edit, organize & share to Facebook, Flickr, & Twitter
• Update your status on Facebook & Twitter
• Visual voicemail on your computer
• Set Web favorites, ringtones & speed dials from your computer
• Transfer contacts & settings from your old phone to your new one
Now I’m not one for posting my pictures and media all over the place, I am one for making sure my data is backed up.

This Is a good application for backing up your data, I use google for contact backup as google mail is one of my main email accounts. With mIQ you have the ability to choose what you want to sync:
- contacts
- calendar
- messages
- calls
- photos
- videos
This is great, not only do you have complete backups of all your media, you have the option to share or keep for yourself. The interface is very nice and even allows you to watch or view your backed up data.
Now the bad things:
- MIQ does not recognise my phone. (bold 9700)
- When I tried to download one of my pictures it just asks me to “select a location to download media” but I cant find how or where to do this!
- Any text messages you send do not show on your phone.
- The first sync takes ages, the more you have the longer it takes, I used wifi connection for this and it was still taking a long time.
- When you delete pictures from your blackberry they stay on mIQ
- When you delete from mIQ they stay on the blackberry device
I did notice that while the application is running it will automatically sync any changes, I have got sync set to manual and it still uploaded the pictures.
Overall its a worthwhile application to have, your data all backed up and secure. If you are a Facebook, Twitter or Flickr then this site will help you share.
